We had a day off in Seattle on Wednesday, which we really needed to recover from our jet lag. We were staying at a house our friend Cort owns (in the room he keeps there). All of his renters are musicians, so we we woke up to the sound of someone playing the guitar and singing. So nice.
We went on a long walk and soaked in Seattle’s beautiful scenery. Then we to Golden Gardens beach and relaxed. Someone near us was playing guitar. I think Seattle is like Asheville – lots of musicians.
That evening we were treated to a lovely dinner prepared by the Shoemakers. We got to play music for them out on the patio. As much as I love to rock, it’s nice to play acoustic sometimes, too. Then we went to see the new Gonzo movie about Hunter S. Thompson. It was excellent – very thought provoking. He reminded us a lot of dear our friend Abbott Vaughn Meader. Brilliant and rebellious. Inspirational and offensive. Self-destructive. Visionary. May they both rest in peace.
We got the full night’s sleep we needed to be able to tear it up on tour.
